Within the Medina (the Old district of Marrakesh), this riad benefit from an excellent location, just a short stroll from the cultural and artistic wealth of the Marrakesh Museum, close to Medersa Ben-Youssef (Koranic school), and the library which preserves a collection of ancient writings.
It is also just 100 meters awawy from the bazaars and the handicrafts center of the Old City, with its covered streets enclosing ceramic, leather goods, copper and jewellery shops.
These narrow streets are full of colourful crowds smelling subtle perfumes and incense scents. Riad DARNA is a ‘3 lanterns guesthouse' - the second highest category. It is officially recognized and fully authorised, as well as being a member of Marrakesh and South Guesthouses Association.
The owners live all the year there. Riad Darna (‘our house' in Arabic) is an extremely comfortable guesthouse, a haven of peace and tranquillity where nothing but birdsong and the tinkling fountain break the silence. A place to rest and relax.
The five rooms, surrounding the two planted and flowered patios, with their own bathroom heated in winter, are all individually designed to offer well-being and comfort.
The patio with its wall-mounted fountain is the perfect place to relax and enjoy a cup of tea and a plate of Moroccan pastries under the shade of four citrus trees. Covered and heated, the patio is pleasant all the year.
The spacious Moroccan-style lounge for our guests, has a fireplace corner, satellite TV and a collection of DVDs about Morocco.
The lounge also encloses a library providing books about Morocco, Moroccan cookbooks, books written by Moroccan authors, and different guide books of Morocco and Marrakesh.
The sunny roof terrace with its flowering plants is the perfect place to relax and enjoy doing nothing.
